Who am I?

I am an event manager, fan of Rembrandt, piano player and a mother to five (5) parttime children. I have been giving tours for 20 years and know what it takes to amaze and delight visitors to the Netherlands. Ever since receiving my degree in history art and languages my passion has been to make art and history accessible and understandable to everyone. From the town hall of the golden age to the modern architecture of the 21st century, museums showcasing Rembrandt van Rijn and Vincent van Gogh, I want to share my love of Amsterdam and the surrounding areas with you.

I can provide you with tailor made tours, ensuring you get an unsurpassed experience and insight in the best that the Netherlands has to offer. Sightseeing can be done by foot, bike, boat or even Segway. Favourite tours include the museums of Amsterdam, the windmills of the Zaansche Schans and the beauty of the Keukenhof.

Follow the book: The Miniaturist by Jesse Burton

Did you enjoy the historic novel of Jesse Burton? I’ll take you back to the glory days of Amsterdam and immerse you in the golden age of the city. Starting in the old harbour and then heading to the islands with the warehouses where the sugar was piled up. We’ll search for gravestones in the Old Church (is Maren still here?) and stroll in the Kalverstraat for that one special gablestone. The tour wouldn’t be complete without seeing the Herengracht with its famous golden bend and the dollhouse of Nella in the Rijksmuseum. Once your pilgrimage is over we can celebrate in one of the oldest cafés of town near Damsquare and we shall make a toast to Johannes.

Information: Amsterdam is quite small but these distances can best be taken by bike. If you have more time, we’ll walk.

Price: On request and is subject to the number of guests.

Secret Amsterdam

One of my favorite tours because I show guests my personal favorites of Amsterdam. Where can you find one of the smallest bookmarkets of the world? And where do you buy a really good Dutch beer? I show you a hidden church on an attic in the red light district and tell you all about good shopping, good food and good design/art shops in the best city of the world.

Price: From 70,00 and is subject to the number of guests.

Rijksmuseum

The best of Dutch art is gathered in the Rijksmuseum. The milkmaid of Vermeer, portraits of Rembrandt, landscapes of Ruysdael and some pieces of Vincent van Gogh. A guided visit will give you the opportunity to find your way in the enormous variety the Rijksmuseum has to offer. I will guide you along the highlights of the museum in an hour, showing you maybe the best art ever made.

Price: From € 70,00, depending on the number of guests. NB: The price excludes tickets

Red Light District

This neighborhood is so much fun, for local Amsterdammers and for foreign visitors, male or female, old or young. The Amsterdam prostitution zone is situated in the oldest part of town thus making a perfect setting to show both modern day highlights and illustrate the history of the prostitution industry. I have been conducting tours in this area for over 20 years and can introduce you to the lesser known paths of those who have worked in the area from the women (and men) of the middle ages to those of the present day.

Price: From €100,00 and is subject to the number of guests.

Miracle Tour

The miracle of Amsterdam has been an unknown but very important event in the history of the city. In the 14th century Amsterdam became a pilgrimage site for Christians because of this miracle. Every year a silent walk is organized to remember this miracle and to commemorate the losses of the iconoclasm of the 15th century, in which the ‘Heilige Stede’ was also destroyed. I will follow the route of the ‘silent walk’ and show you all the remains of this and other miracles in the city. You will discover how religious Amsterdam was and how spiritual it still is.

Price: From € 100,00 and is subject to the number of guests.
